Martin Specialty Coatings
In 1947, Edward Martin opened a residential painting company called Martin Painting and Decorating. Under Mr. Martin’s leadership, the company evolved from residential painting to serving commercial customers and providing industrial customers with specialized high-performance coatings and resinous flooring.
In 1976, Mr. Martin changed the name of the company to Martin Specialty Coatings, Inc. to better identify the types of coatings MSC provided, and in 1987, his sons purchased the company from their father, making Martin Specialty Coatings a second-generation family business.
To accommodate our company’s growth, our headquarters was moved to a larger facility in 1992. We also added shop applied custom coatings to our product lineup. In 2005, to better serve our OEM customers, we added powder coating to the product line.
In 2022 the company celebrated its 75th anniversary! On this anniversary, the three brothers, Ken, Steve, and Randy, started the process of handing the business down to the third generation. Under their leadership the company grew stronger and became a business partner to so many of our long-term clients. Ken, Steve, and Randy believe in building relationships and supporting the business that supports you. With that mentality, they fostered business partnerships that have lasted the test of time and continue to be successful.
Today we serve businesses within 300 miles of Shreveport with full-service coatings. We are now a third-generation company with more than 100 employees, many of whom have over 20 years of experience in their field.
Martin Specialty Coatings was started because of the ability to get it right. Our grit and commitment to finish any project is why our customers count on us. The beginnings of a residential painting company have evolved into a 3rd generation coatings business that provides services in various sectors and material applications.
