Cabela’s Outdoor Sporting Goods

Building Envelope Upgrades

PROJECT PROFILE

Challenge

The Cabela’s Outdoor Sporting Goods location in Gonzales Louisiana had a problem with serious weatherization issues that was caused by failures of multiple building envelope systems that were responsible for approximately 50 leak areas throughout the facility. These leak areas caused major disruption to facility operations and consistent safety hazards to the store staff and store patrons. This provided a unique challenge to provide site discovery and provide a complete weatherization solution while continuing full operations during the holiday season and into the new year that is historically the busiest time for this facility and the most difficult weather conditions for the system applications. Bass Pro Shops the parent company of Cabela’s engaged Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance and Martin to provide an engineered building envelope restoration to support their facility.

Solution

Martin collaborated with the Tremco design and consulting team to establish a minimally intrusive complete weatherization system that would provide the client with a dry safe building and allow completion under full operation. It was determined a fluid applied reinforced polyurethane roof system, metal roof component upgrades, and a full skylight restoration.

Solution (CONTINUED)

The client and Tremco design team requested that Martin provide all services related to the project requirements including the metal components and skylight restoration. Martin developed an industry leading team and worked with the Tremco Technical Representatives to provide thorough nondestructive testing to the facility to determine all needed preliminary work to provide a warrantable solution at a price point that met the client’s budgets and an operation schedule that provided the installations in a time frame that met the project goals.

Considering the designed application, the material application temperatures posed an installation difficulty that needed to be addressed. Martin used its extensive knowledge in coating applications to develop an inline product heating spray system that allowed the productivity and performance of spray applications in lower temperatures that would make spray application near impossible if not addressed.

The result provides the client with a properly designed, well-functioning building envelope solution that eliminates the numerous moisture intrusion issues.

Martin always enjoys the opportunity to work in collaboration with clients and design professionals to support facility challenges. If there is an issue that Martin can help you address, please contact us today to set up a meeting to discuss any weatherization and moisture intrusion issues we can help you mitigate.
